Tracie's Pull List - Week of February 15, 2012

PRETEND I POSTED THIS YESTERDAY:

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Let's talk a bit about my one, true love: COMICS!

AVENGING SPIDER-MAN #4

Our first Avenging Spider-Man without Madureira and we get everyone's favorite artist, Greg Land. While mildly depressing, we still get the sharp script of Zeb Wells. AND it's a one-shot. It'd be awful hard not to make a Hawkeye team-up like this fun.

BATMAN #6

So, all you folks read Batman #5 last month, right? Have you picked your jaws off the floor yet, cuz another one hits tomorrow.

BIRDS OF PREY #6

Sad to think these are our last few issues with Jesus Saiz on art but dang I'm really digging this book.

DAREDEVIL #9

Oh Daredevil... so fitting that you follow Valentine's Day because, my love for you? It burns.

FEAR ITSELF: THE FEARLESS #9 (OF 12)

I really hope the fact that Valkyrie is a member of Remender's Secret Avengers means that what I think they're gearing up for in this book doesn't really happen.

GENERATION HOPE #16

I was contemplating whether or not to cut this series loose, in the wake of Gillen's departure but Marvel seems to have made my decision for me by canceling it.

GLORY #23

I'm really fascinated by this wave of Liefeld-approved reimaginings of his old Extreme Studios characters by all sorts of indie comics folk. (though a bit confusing that the total reimaginings maintaing the original numbering) Glory, in particular, catches my interest, since the creative team has a real chance to give us a strong, female-led book. Plus, I've been a Ross Campbell fan for years so, all the rest of you? Welcome to the club.

SUPERGIRL #6

Having a completely rebooted Super-family mythos still weirds me out a little bit but darned if I don't enjoy these books.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #679.1

Morbius, the Living Vampire!

THE AVENGERS #22

The Stuart Immonen cover makes me miss Stuart Immonen. And Daniel Acuna. Renato Guedes steps in on art chores, this issue, as the two core Avengers books work to wrap up the longstanding Norman Osborn story.

THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #513

Iron Man versus War Machine! More of the Mandarin's evil plot! The kind of stuff you want happening in an Iron Man comic!

THE NEW AVENGERS #21

More fighting between the New Avengers and the Dark New Avengers or New Dark Avengers!

THUNDERBOLTS #170

A Thunderbolt in King Arthur's Court! (Tracie, you like time travel and superheroes and charm and whit--here, have some Thunderbolts comics)

ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #7

Nick Spencer's Ultimate X-Men feels like what Ultimate X-Men should feel like. A modern, relevant take on superhero mutants with the racial/social undertones the series was created around.

UNCANNY X-MEN #7

Kieron Gillen, why are you so good at writing? You're so good at writing.

WINTER SOLDIER #2

Reeeeally loved #1. Story and art working in perfect harmony.

WOLVERINE #301

Wolverine versus the new Silver Samurai! Sweet cover by Olivier Coipel! More at by Steven Sanders!

WONDER WOMAN #6

I will be elated to have Cliff Chiang back on the book, but Tony Akins does an EXCELLENT job at filling in.

  1. UPDATE:

HOW COULD I BE SO WISHY-WASHY ABOUT GENERATION HOPE WHEN IT TURNS OUT THAT TAKESHI MIYAZAWA IS DRAWING IT!!!! Now it actually makes me a little SAD that Takeshi Miyazawa has to draw a canceled book.

Also! Javier Pina drew Birds of Prey #6 which made me realize HEY, Javier Pina's style is really close to Jesus Saiz's AND he was Jesus' replacement artist on Manhunter so why wouldn't DC just let HIM take over the book??

I really do like Travel Foreman, though. A lot. I'm just being real protective of this new BoP for some reason.
