Tracie's Pull List - Week of May 16, 2012

I'm a sleepy baby, coming off of a couple long weeks and another longish one in front of me so let's just dish about comics, shall we?

Amazing Spider-Man Ends Of Earth #1

Ends of the Earth is shaping up to be yet other really excellent Spidey mini-event from Dan Slott and, outside of the Epilogue playing out in next month's Avenging Spider-Man, this is the ONLY tie-in outside of the regular series. Pretty impressive restraint, these days. Why the tie-in? Well, Ends just opened the story up on a global scale and this one-shot spotlights those global heroes as they try (and perhaps fail) to thwart Doc Ock and the Sinister Six from all over the globe. Big Hero 6! Sabra! Union Jack! (I do so hope Atomic Robo's Brian Clevenger is writing the Big Hero 6 portion)

AvX Vs #2

The first issue of AvX Verses was pretty much exactly what I would've wanted from an all-out fight comic by some of my favorite creators. It does what it says on the tin. This dude fights this dude until one of them is down. So let's try that again with one of the strangest pairings I could imagine out of all of this... Captain America versus GAMBIT(??) written and illustrated by Steve McNiven. When I think of mutants for Cap to fight, my mind does not jump immediately to Gambit. Maybe not even on my 10th jump. Yet here it is! And gosh it'll be pretty. Also Spider-Man versus Collossus by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larrocca. Which is basically like a classic Spidey/Juggernaut match but with an angstier Juggernaut.

Avengers #26

AvX! Betrayal! More reasons for you not to like The Protector!

Avengers Vs X-Men #4

Hickman grabs the baton this issue!

Batwoman #9

Trevor McCarthey takes over art this issue. I was a huuuuge fan of his Gates of Gotham mini and I think he'll be a good fit with the kind of fancy layouts Williams likes to have in this issue but hopefully he won't be taken down by unsuitable inking like Amy Reeder had the misfortune of.

Birds Of Prey #9

Artist Travel Foreman jumps from Animal Man to BoP in time for the Court of Owls Talons to strike!

Daredevil #13

Koi Pham is back for an issue as Daredevil does punchings to the Megacrime organization! (love love love this book)

Deadenders

For the first time, the entirety of Ed Brubaker's sci-fi Vertigo series collected!

Fantastic Four #605.1

The Secret History of the Fantastic Four, in this new-reader friendly Point One issue! Hickman keeps shaking things up and wowwing, even past his mega-epic conclusion.

Glory #26

This book plays out like a Dark Knight-ish reimagining of Wonder Woman and I'm totally digging it.

Incredible Hulk #7.1

Point One jumping-on point (one). What happened to Bruce Banner?

Invincible Iron Man #517

IRON MAN NO MORE continues!

Justice League #9

Jim Lee is back and he's brought a brand-new villain with him!

New Mutants #42

Part 3 of the Journey Into Mystery/New Mutants crossover!

Saga #3

If you are not reading Brian K. Vaughan's Saga, you need to be reading Brian K. Vaughan's Saga. It's like Star Wars for adults! (as opposed to Adult Star Wars)

Supergirl #9

I still find Supergirl to be really engaging, thanks to top notch art and brisk writing. It's a cool drink of water where Action Comics is like a crazy Japanese soda or something. Superboy might be one of those crazy new flavors of Mountain Dew where it looks cool but then you taste it and you're not really sure why you didn't just get regular Mountain Dew. Or, wait, maybe Superboy is Orbit. Anyone remember Orbit? All I know is I looked at Superboy last week and just like the Titans Annual, I put it back down.

Thunderbolts #174

Hot dang, Thunderbolts versus Thunderbolts just got paradoxy up in here.

Uncanny X-Men #12

Namor versus The Thing Round 2? Okay!

Winter Soldier #5

GORILLA WITH A MACHINE GUN. GORILLA WITH A MACHINE GUN.

Wonder Woman #9

Cliff Chiang, why you draw so pretty? (nevermind, just keep doing it)

'Til next time! EXCELSIOR!
