Tracie's Pull List - Week of December 28, 2011

It's the last week of new comics in 2011!

Which means that since everyone has already made their Best of 2011 lists, none of these matter! Right? No. Un-right.

Let's take a look, shall we?

ANGEL & FAITH STEVE MORRIS CVR #5

I really have nothing new to say. 5 issues in and it is consistently great with excellent art by Rebekah Issacs.

AQUAMAN #4

Good job being badass, Aquaman.

AVENGERS: THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE #8 (OF 9)

Eeeeeep, it's almost over! And it's great! And beautiful!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #5

CAPTAIN AMERICA #6

CAPTAIN AMERICA & BUCKY #625

THREE Cap books, all in one week. And two of them are from the same series. We get the conclusion of Steve McNiven's art, the start of Alan Davis as new regular Cap artist, and the start of Franco Francavilla's arc on Cap & Bucky! All things to look forward to.

DC COMICS PRESENTS: ELSEWORLDS 80 PAGE GIANT #1

It's the infamous Elseworlds 80 Page Giant that was originally recalled due to a Superbaby in a microwave gag. Really looking forward to finally reading this thing.

DOROTHY AND THE WIZARD IN OZ #4 (OF 8)

Consistently lovely.

FF #13

Unsurprisingly, some folks don't like Juan Bobillo's very stylized art. I, however, do. Though it would help if the coloring was more consistent.

INCORRUPTIBLE #25

More origins!

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #4

This book holds on by virtue of Deadman, who has somehow become my favorite character of The New 52.

SECRET AVENGERS #20

Alex Maleev teams up with Warren Ellis to bring us a Black Widow tale.

TEEN TITANS #4

Teen Titans, you continue to be a curiosity.

THE FLASH #4

The Flash continues to be just plum fantastic comicbook storytelling.

THE FURY OF FIRESTORM: THE NUCLEAR MEN #4

Oh, but Firestorm... I may be over you. I just can't seem to find it in my heart to care what happens next. I know you have a new writer coming aboard and that Van Sciver is drawing a couple issues soon, but... I just don't really need to read comics I don't care about, do I? Even when I care about the people who make them? It's a tough choice.

THE MIGHTY THOR #9

There's no question of whether to buy Fraction & Ferry's Thor, though.

ULTIMATE COMICS THE ULTIMATES #5

The inclusion of Spider-Woman may be my favorite thing about Hickman's Ultimates.

ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #5

I really dig the little twists Spencer is putting on the Ultimate X-Men.

UNCANNY X-MEN #3

Finally, Kieron Gillen just makes everything wonderful.

See you in 2012, y'all!

  1. I'm with ya on Firestorm. Just not connecting with me either.

  3. I wound up not picking up the new issue, despite the art looking the best it has, thanks to the addition of Norman Rapmund as inker.

I flipped through it and determined that it was probably a fine comic, I just don't care.
