Tracie's Pull List - Week of October 12, 2011

OHMIGOD YOU GUYS, THE AVENGERS TRAILER DROPPED TODAY AND IT'S INCREDIBLE AND ENDS ON SUCH A WHEDONY NOTE AND WHY, IN ODIN'S NAME, IS IT NOT MAY 2012 RIGHT NOW???????? FFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Huff.

Pant.

Okay. I'll be alright. It's going to be fine. Tomorrow I have more MILES MORALES SPIDER-MAN to soothe my soul and the Whedons even have a couple books on the shelf so let's get into that before I go into convulsions...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #671

I worry that in the midst of The New 52 and Fear Itself and Schism, Spider-Island is being a bit forgotten. Which it really shouldn't be because it is a complete and total HOOT and even the tie-ins (or, at least, Spider-Girl, Avengers, and Cloak & Dagger) have been wonderful. There is a LOT to love here for Spider-fans. Not to mention some pretty great twists and teasers for continuity nuts.

BATGIRL #2

You are treading a thin line, Batgirl, and I do not envy your position one bit. You do at least have the fortune of my many years of devotion to Gail Simone but you still have a lot of proving yourself to do.

BATMAN AND ROBIN #2

#1 had one of my favorite bits of Bruce Wayne/Batman characterization I've read in a LONG time (then again, he's been dead) and it really sets up a new feel for the character and this duo and a GREAT, creepy new villain. Excellent stuff, Tomasi and Gleason.

BATWOMAN #2

We've waited so long for #1 to arrive, it seems almost impossible that I'll actually be able to hold #2 in my hands, tomorrow. Simply gorgeous. AND THE COMIC IS WELL DRAWN TOO. Hur.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON 9 #2

JOSSSSSSSSSSSS. First issue was SOOOOO great and really felt like it had that old Buffy magic back. And the last page was so "BWAHH!!!??" It is fun to have fun.

DOLLHOUSE: EPITAPHS #4 (OF 5)

It's Whedon Week in nerddom!! (or "EVERY DAY" in Tracie Land)

FF #10

You can really see how Hickman will benefit from breaking FF into two books. There's so much going on here, it will be nice to maybe split the action between what the Four are doing and what the Foundation is up to.

FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E. #2

Robb kinda hit it on the head when stating that Frankenstein actually seems to be suffering from the Flashpoint lead in because reintroducing the characters feels like a step backwards, regardless of how different they are in the New 52. I like the quirky new additions, though, and there's still plenty of potential here. Maybe getting past those intros, #2 will give a better showing.

GENERATION HOPE #12

My heart breaks that Kieron Gillen leaves the series with this issue, after making such a powerful mark. Still, I can't wait to see how he handles what must be a very emotional picking-up-the-pieces issue, post-Schism.

GREEN LANTERN #2

I had forgotten for a bit that Green Lantern comics could be fun! Thanks, New 52!

IRREDEEMABLE #30

Mark Waid is evil.

MEGA MAN #6

REALLY so very happy to see that this book did not dip in quality hardly at all, with the departure of Patrick Spaziente. I enjoy the heck out of these robots and the do-gooder spirit.

NEW AVENGERS #17

New Avengers does it's best work when it's not embroiled in a crossover. And now we've got Daredevil!

S.H.I.E.L.D. VOL. 2 #3 (OF 6)

Like the glasses on my face, this comic makes me feel smart.

SUPERBOY #2

I really want "Red" not to be evil, please please please.

THE PUNISHER #4

RUCKAAAAAAAA. <3

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #3

Every issue/snippet I read makes me love Miles more and more and why OH WHY are we not seeing this in the movies or cartoons? MORE MILES PLEASE. In the TRUEST spirit of Ultimate Comics, this feels like a Spider-Man for TODAY and I can't get enough. (which is good because they seem to be double shipping a bit)

ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #2

I just finished Morning Glories vol. 2, last night, and Nick Spencer is INCREDIBLE. The Ultimate X-Men are in the very best hands.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #16

X-Force is the BEST-LOOKING X-book. Do you understand how crazy that is? (well, until Bachalo starts on Wolv-Men)

X-MEN: REGENESIS #1

Kieron Gillen and Jason Aaron are making me the happiest little X-fan. Here is where the teams split and things get REALLY interesting.

EXCELSIOR!

  2. I tried to keep it somewhat in the style of yours. I felt dumb having a weekly "column" and not having a header to go with it.
