Tracie's Pull List - Week of March 7, 2012

So, Robb, Matt, and I had a lot of fun in Lincoln, last week, at the opening of Graphic Violence: The Art of Comic Book Fight Scenes at Doc's Place in the Haymarket. Hello to anybody who we met there or who managed to wander onto the blog from the fliers we had strewn around.

If you haven't checked it out and find yourself in the Lincoln, NE area sometime in the month of March, pop down to Doc's and check out a lot of sweet comic book art-- and also my stuff.

And speaking of sweet comic book art, I believe you can find examples of such things in this week's picks:

ACTION COMICS #7

We've entered Month 7 of The New 52, there's a new logo in the corner of the books, Rags Morales is back, and so is the story! It was a little odd having the two Andy Kubert issues shoved into Action Comics that seemed to be something of an awkward interruption of the story that had been building up to that point. I'll be very happy to get back to the comic I was reading two months ago.

ANIMAL MAN #7

Part 1 of a new storyline in this great, great book.

AVENGERS: THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE #9 (OF 9)

FINAL ISSUE! I reeeeally hope this isn't the last we see of the Young Avengers, nor the last we see Allen Heinberg and Jim Cheung working on them. Such a great team, such a beautiful superhero book. Also, apparently, a big piece of the Avengers vs. X-Men brouhaha.

FEAR ITSELF: THE FEARLESS #10 (OF 12)

Another strong superhero book, surrounding an event, and hopefully not actually about the demise of the character(s) it stars.

IRREDEEMABLE #35

The finale to Mark Waid's brilliant and depressing superhero epic is drawing ever closer!!

STATIC SHOCK #7

Everybody welcome Justice League Unlimited writer Marc Bernardin to Static Shock--and then get ready to say goodbye to him in two more issues. Sorry, Marc. It'll be extra bittersweet if these last three issues turn out to be that much better than the 6 prior.

SWAMP THING #7

Is this indeed the return of Yanick Paquette?? And is this the issue where we finally see Swamp Thing's new look or are we still building to that? Still, so good.

SWEET TOOTH #31

I love that Sweet Tooth is so reliably good and so reliably on-time. First week of the month, right next to Lemire's Animal Man. Boom!

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #681

Spider-Man and Human Torch in spaaaaaaaaace! One of the best duos in comics.

THE DEFENDERS #4

The most Matt Fractiony superhero comic on the shelves. Fun, cool, weird stuff.

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #8

SARA PICHELLI IS BACK!!!!!

UNCANNY X-MEN #8

Kieron Gillen is just killing it on Uncanny X-Men. These books have so much more personality than they've had in, maybe, ever.

WINTER SOLDIER #3

BUCKY BARNES, KNEEL BEFORE DOOOOOOOOM!!! Brubaker and Epting have transported the magic from their early Captain America stuff and put it in Winter Soldier.

WOLVERINE #302

The finale of the Hand/Yakuza War! Steve Sanders art! (also Billy Tan)

Until next week, Take Mine Money...
